We're turning “lost” substitute teacher days into meaningful environmental and clean economy career exploration.
How? We're training substitute teachers to deliver standards-aligned lessons across many subject areas that introduce students to exciting, family-sustaining careers in Minnesota's growing clean economy.
Classroom teachers
Instead of writing sub plans, book a Clean Economy Educator to come in for you when you need to be absent.
- 1Create an account on CleanEconomyEd.org.
- 2Request a Clean Economy Educator sub to cover for you during your absence.
- 3Wait for the Clean Economy Educator sub (already employed by your district) to confirm. They will be notified immediately, so this shouldn't take long.
- 4After you receive confirmation, request a sub through your district's absence management system, such as Frontline Education or similar. To avoid someone else accepting the job, do not post the absence through your district until a Clean Economy Educator has confirmed.
- 5Finally, tell the Clean Economy Educator sub to pick up your absence through your district's absence management system so they are paid through the district as usual.
Substitute teachers
No more just "holding down the fort." Teach valuable lessons and walk confidently into the classrooms knowing exactly what you'll teach.
- 1Register to be a Clean Economy Educator substitute teacher.
- 2We will notify you about upcoming lesson trainings so you can be trained as a Clean Economy Educator.
- 3After the training, you will complete your profile and select which lessons you'd like to teach.
- 4When you are matched with a classroom teacher to sub, you will need to go into the absence management system and select that job assignment to be paid by the district as usual.
School and district leaders
Reduce sub shortages, support teachers, and increase student learning. You already pay for these substitute teachers. We'll train them so sub days are more productive and rewarding for subs and students. There is no charge to participate.
Students
The whole lesson library is public. Read what an in-school field trip covers, from poetry and public speaking to statistics, air quality, and rain-garden design. Pre- and post-surveys to measure what students learn are coming soon. There is nothing here to sign up for or fill in.
